I’m a self-taught artist living in the coastal resort of Cleethorpes, a place that you’ll probably recognise in many of my drawings. I rediscovered my love of art a little later in life after finishing a long and dedicated career in nursing. Drawing had always been my joy and aspiration since my school days, but life took me in a different direction for many years, before I finally found my way back to it.

 

Ive taught myself to draw using a digital pencil on a digital canvas, mainly working with drawing software called Procreate, and I love the freedom that digital art gives me. I often start with photographs or simple pencil sketches, then build up the image in layers, adding colour, detail and atmosphere as the picture develops. My images are hand drawn, AI is not used.

 

I enjoy re-imagining familiar places and giving them a slightly different feel,  My work isn’t always strictly realistic,  I like to use stronger colours and lighting to create something a bit more magical and eye-catching, while still keeping a sense of the place.

 

I’m always happy to create commissioned pieces to your own ideas or specifications, whether that’s black-and-white line drawings, full-colour scenes, collages, or illustrated maps. I enjoy working with people to produce something personal, especially when it involves places that mean something to them.
